The whirlwind of the BIO 2009 International Convention has come to a close. For the first time in a week I'm not rushing, racing, talking or being interviewed. I thought the Convention was a huge success and that's what everyone who offered me their opinions seemed to be saying. Despite the economic recession, we had well over 14,000 attendees. The Business Forum was humming with something like 15,000 one-on-one meetings.

For me it started last Friday with pre-conference media interviews.

Only at a (huge) convention of biotechnology geeks, salespeople, and alas, communications types like me, would an amazing cover band get up there and say we are all in set for an evening of 'Biofunk'.

However I'll excuse the biofunk line because the group was great. They may have introduced themselves but you couldn't really make out what they were saying and the BIO website, printed guide and CD leave you in dark.  Once the tunes started though, there was no question....

This day—Thursday, May 21—marks the final day of the 2009 BIO International Convention in Atlanta. The overall mood at the convention this past week can best be described as refreshingly energetic. And, people were getting down to business! Attendees and exhibitors alike spoke highly of the quality interactions and valuable business contacts.
